Inspiring models of

recovery and repair

Art-making is an alchemical portal of healing Self for collective evolution, by way of framed gesture and gaze initiated from the raw rush of feeling it all.

S.L. McIntyre:

CREATIVE ARTIST & STORYTELLER

Currently available for exhibitions, speaking, teaching, collaborating, and installation.

I live and work between so-called New York in the Lower Hudson Valley / NYC Metro Area, and so-called Maine in Kittery Point / York Harbor.

My mixed Gaelic - Celtic ancestors were early “settlers” to these lands that rightfully belong to the Indigenous Wappiner, Munsee Lenape, Schaghticoke, Pennacook, Abenaki and Wabanki tribes of Turtle Island.

This harmful history, re-membering the Gaels who became WASPs, and healing intergenerational trauma through Queer Magic and Cultural Somatics is at the core of my research.

I work with lineage, recovery, emotion and repair.

Like my ancestors, I am married to the coast.

I am here to re-member their magic.

I have been intuitively and prolifically creating my whole life.

As a transdisciplinary artist, I weave painting, photography, videography, dance, poetry, narrative dreams, journaling, altar making, and channeling.

My educational background is a Masters in Somatic Psychology and Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Dance from the University of Vermont’s College of Arts & Sciences.

My spirituality practice as a Witch deeply informs my work. While I was christened and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church, my most influential teachers are Lindsay Mack from Wild Soul Tarot School, Renee Sills from Embodied Astrology, Erin Sweeney, and the ancestors I channel each day.

Parts of me

The Moon Card is my personality card and the Hermit is my Soul card in tradition of Tarot.

At my core, I am a mystical spiritual guide teaching from the I.

My personal recovery + repair journey began with seeking treatment for an eating disorder at 24 amidst pursuing professional dance.

This catalyzed a life long journey to know the Self, heal the hurt parts, re-member my magic, and become a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the Somatic tradition.

My professional healing practice and education informs my artistic conceptualizing. My creative endeavors sustain my energetic ability to serve others in such an intimate sacred container.

They each feed one another - linked forever, an infinity sign.
